Our advisory staff is made up some our countries finest, both at the collegiate and international levels.
Co-Founder & Hall of Fame Coach
While coaching the USA Men, Marv won every major international event, including the 1985 World Cup, the 1986 World Championships, and the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea. During his tenure at Pepperdine, Marv has won five NCAA Division I Championships. Dunphy holds a career record of 507-199.
In only his second season at the help of the BYU Men's Volleyball Team, Chris led the squad to the MPSF Championship and runner up at the NCAA National Tournament. Chris was named the MPSF and AVCA Coach of the Year. Chris is currently a full time member of the Gold Medal Squared staff.
2-Time Olympic Setter
Courtney played for the University of Washington volleyball team from 2003 to 2006. In 2005 Court led the Huskies to their first ever NCAA Championship. After college, Courtney participated in both the 2012 London Olympic Games, along with the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Assistant Coach - USA Men's Volleyball
Mike is an assistant coach for our Men's National Team. Since 2013 Mike has helped Team USA win a World League Gold Medal, a World League Bronze Medal, a World Cup Gold Medal, a World Champs Bronze and a Bronze Medal at the Rio Olympic Games. Mike will continue with Team USA through Tokyo 2020.
Head Coach - BYU Women
2018 National Coach of the Year and final four participants! Heather coached the 2017 Cougars to a 30-3 (17-1 WCC) season where they won a fourth-straight conference title and advanced to the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament for a sixth-consecutive season. in 2017 Heather developed four All-Americans for the cougars.
Head Coach - University of Illinois
Like many of our advisory staff members, Chris' coaching career began working summer camps with Gold Medal Squared. In 2017, Chris helped the Nebraska Women's Team to yet another NCAA Championship. In 2018, Tamas took over as the head coach at Illinois, guiding his team to final four in his first year.
Head Coach - USA Men's Volleyball
John is the head coach for both our USA Men's National Team and the UCLA Men's Program. In his first quad with team USA John won a World League Gold, a World League Brozne and the first World Cup since Marv did it in 1986. In 2016 John led Team USA to the Bronze Medal at the Rio Olympic Games.
Head Coach - USC
After a successful run at the University of Portland, including WCC Coach of the Year honors, Brent Crouch is now the head coach at the University of Southern California. We've always felt that Brent was going to end up at a big time program, we just didn't know if would happen this fast. We are thrilled that he is a member of our advisory staff moving forward.
Head Coach - University of Arkansas
Watson has been a head coach for the past 11 seasons, including the past eight seasons at Arizona State University. In 2015, he led the Sun Devils to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. In his 11 years as a head coach at BYU and ASU, Watson has earned 200 wins and led his teams to seven NCAA Tournament berths.
Head Coach - University of Georgia
Tom is currently the head coach for the University of Georgia women's volleyball program. Since 2013 Tom has also served as an assistant coach to the Women's National Team, helping Team USA capture it's first ever World Championship Gold Medal. Tom was also on the bench when the women won the Bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Head Coach - University of Washington
Keegan was hired as the Head Coach at UW in 2015. His first two seasons resulted in two Pac-12 Championships and two trips to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championships, with five different Huskies earning AVCA All-America honors covering every position on the court, and a Pac-12 Player of the Year award.
Head Coach - St. Mary's College
Rob enters his 12th season as the head women's volleyball coach at Saint Mary's. Browning has led the Gaels to sustained success throughout a decade that has seen Saint Mary's volleyball grow both on and off the court. In addition to his duties as head indoor coach, he helped establish sand volleyball as SMC's 17th intercollegiate sport.
Head Coach - Cal State Bakersfield
Giovana is in her second season at CSUB. Melo was wildly successful as a head coach in six years at Western Nebraska Community College where her teams reached five NJCAA Division I final fours and won the 2010 NJCAA national championship. Her teams also won six Region IX championships.
Technical Coordinator - USA Women
Joe Trinsey has established himself as one of, if not the most talented statistician in the world. Joe has a unique ability to analyze the game of volleyball and provide coaches with powerful information. Both USA and GMS are extremely lucky to have Joe on staff. He's no doubt the smartest guy in the room.
Assistant Coach - USA Women
Luka Slabe came to the United States to play volleyball for Carl McGown at BYU. After his playing career, Luka was the head coach of the Slovenian National Team. Currently, Luka has returned to the United States and is an Assistant Coach for our USA Women's National Team.
