Beth Ann Wilson grew up in San Diego playing volleyball, but at a time when women’s volleyball and the club scene wasn’t the juggernaut it is today. She headed out to the east coast to play at a small school, and ended up staying. She’s currently the head coach at Marymount University in Arlington, VA, and she talks about those early years as a player and a young coach, and what it’s been like to coach and recruit athletes to a Division 3 school. Her school doesn’t offer scholarships; she talks about the kind of athlete that environment attracts, how she manages playing time, training, and some of the other challenges that are unique to Division 3.
