We are a proud & happy group of coaches providing world class volleyball education
Gold Medal Squared™ Volleyball Camps and Clinics were created with one goal in mind – improving the quality of volleyball players and volleyball coaches. We believe that coaching is a lifelong education. Through years of refinement, we have developed a unique process by which volleyball coaches are given the necessary tools to teach the skills to their players, to understand the tactics of the game, to make better use of limited time with their players, and to develop winning programs. This process is based on studied scientific principles from human kinetics, organizational behavior, statistics, and psychology.
Thousands of volleyball coaches world-wide have been through the Gold Medal Squared program – many with literally life-altering results. We have had innumerable volleyball coaches tell us how much more they enjoy coaching, how much more success and satisfaction they are achieving, and what a big change the Gold Medal Squared process has had on their lives.

Carl McGown, Marv Dunphy and Doug Beal have played a role in every Olympics since 1984. At least one of them was on staff for all three of our men's Olympic Gold Medals. Rob Browning was with the Women's Team in London when they won their silver medal. Marv Dunphy, Tom Black and Joe Trinsey were with the women in 2014 when they won their first EVER World Championship. John Speraw and Mike Wall coached our Men to both the 2014 World League Gold Medal and the 2015 World Cup Gold Medal. This was the first time that our men's team took gold at the World Cup since Marv Dunphy did it back in 80s. As you can see, we have a long history of winning at Gold Medal Squared.
The winning tradition lives on at Gold Medal Squared™
As the founders of Gold Medal Squared wrap up their historic coaching careers, a new generation of talent is emerging. In only his second season ever as a head coach, Chris McGown was named the MPSF and AVCA Coach of the Year for BYU. We currently have two staff members with the women's national team (Tom Black and Joe Trinsey) and two members with the men's national team (John Speraw and Mike Wall). Jason Watson recently took a great job coaching the University of Arkansas Women's program. Rob Browning has now been to 4 Olympic Games himself. Tom Black just guided his team LMU to the Sweet 16. Having been mentored by our sports most decorated coaches, our up and coming advisory staff has been nothing short of outstanding.

Joe Trinsey has established himself as one of, if not the most talented statistician in the world. Joe has a unique ability to analyze the game of volleyball and provide coaches with powerful information. Both USA and GMS are extremely lucky to have Joe on staff. He's no doubt the smartest guy in the room.
Tom has been heavily involved with Gold Medal Squared for over a decade now. Tom has played an important role with both our volleyball camp program and our volleyball clinic program. If you've hosted one of our summer camps you know that Tom is very good at what he does. We are lucky to have him on board!
