Client Testimonials
November 2011 - Hi Guys! We won the DIII State Championship on Saturday. It was the 2nd straight year Frontier won the state title. I took the GMS clinic in the summer of 2006, and again this summer. Frontier lost 4 of it's top starting players from the championship team last year. This year we needed every edge we could get. The refresher I got at the clinic this year helped us change some of our training, and a lot of our thinking. I set up another net. We got a lot more out of practice and I think we probably got 50-100% more reps which helped us improve dramatically over the season. In the State Final, we played the same team we beat last year. Except they didn't graduate a single player from 2010. On paper, they had the advantage of running the same lineup for 2 years, compared to our new setter, new middle, new outside, new libero. We won in 5 sets. We were down 2-1, and down 21-17 and 23-22 in the 4th. When you add up all the scores, we scored 106, they scored 103. 3 points difference / 209 total points is only 1.4% better. We wouldn't have got that 1.4% without GMS, so I wanted to say thanks to Chris, Tom and Rodrigo.

November 2011 - Regardless of how many years I had been coaching volleyball, attending the GMS Volleyball Coaching Clinic in Phoenix was such a valuable learning experience for me. The coaches were able to bring so much more to our practices and we were confident we were teaching the correct techniques. For the first time in our programs 21 year history, we are 2011 District Champions. Thank you GMS!

We just finished up our 2011 season. Truly another great year, 31-1,
and MCAA State Championships for the third consecutive year. Since the first Gold Medal Squared Coaches Clinic I attended in Winnipeg our teams have finished:
2009 ~ 28-2 MCAA State Champions 2010 ~ 30-0 MCAA State Champions 2011 ~ 31-1 MCAA State Champions
Thanks GMS for providing us with great coaching principles.

We had an outstanding season this year – in fact, one of the most successful in the history of McMurry University Volleyball! Our season record was 28-5, which included a seventeen game winning streak, and we won the American Southwest Conference West Division Championship and finished as the Runners-up in the ASC Championship Tournament. Two players earned First Team All-Conference Honors, two earned Second Team, one earned Honorable Mention and we had seven Academic All-Conference recipients. (We actually had four more that qualified for Academic All-Conference but were ineligible because they are freshmen!) In addition, we also one player earn AVCA All Region and Honorable Mention All-American honors. And…my assistant and I were named the American Southwest Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. Woo hoo!
I implemented several of the concepts that I was introduced to at the Gold Medal Clinic in Malibu last spring and truly believe they made a difference in our performance this season. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (It’s definitely never too late for an old dog to learn new tricks!)
Again, a HUGE thank you to the Gold Medal Staff!!
I attended a Gold Medal Squared Clinic in rahway in December of 2010. I implemented practically everything that I learned from the clinic, GMS individual skills techniques, team defensive and offensive concepts, team drills, whiteboards for structured practices and of course the competitive cauldron. Our team went 37-2 this season, winning 2 invitational tournaments, a showcase tournament with the top 6 teams in NJ, our league, county, state sectional, and overall state championship. I am so thankful of the inspiration and knowledge I received at your coaching clinic. It was a dream season! Please let the entire staff know of our accomplishments and my appreciation for all of their help!

I just wanted to let you know that after attending GMS in May of 2010, I started coaching at Monte Vista H.S. in the Bay Area. I am happy to report that, through your help and guidance, we have improved our first year record of 10-23 in 2010 to 20-14 in 2011 and have made the play-offs starting next week. Yay! I use a lot of the information I learned at GMS on a daily basis, and have thought a lot about the concepts in the textbook as well.
I'm hoping you have a great Thanksgiving, and just wanted to let you know how much the training helped redirect my coaching knowledge base to catch up to the 21st century. Now if I can just keep those teenaged girls in line!

"The information presented to us is cutting-edge and revolutionary, although after the first day I was very disappointed to learn that I really knew nothing about coaching volleyball. This clinic challenged all principles and practices that I was taught in many years of playing on different levels. In the end however, this clinic was a shot in the arm of INFORMATION, enthusiasm and motivation to get out there and coach more effectively and mindfully while building relationships with my players. It also reminded me why I love the game. Once again, thank you…I would definitely attend this clinic again."

"This is Adam Black from Pierce College down in LA. I just wanted to email you to inform you about some great things about Pierce men's volleyball program. We finished 2nd in the state this year losing to Long Beach City College in the finals. The great news however, has nothing to do with the finals. The great news is that I was able to apply the methods from GMS to my coaching, my team, and my season. Everything from the training, to the office work, and to the games. GMS has truly made this season very memorable and rewarding.
All of a sudden teaching became effective, strategy was based on percentages and correlations, and positive energy flowed from the bench in our games. Through the principles, methods, and most importantly the role models of GMS (Carl, Ron, Marv), I was able to take individuals of moderate talent and create a team that went to the finals. These results are not the fruits of my labor rather it is the outcome of many hands working together (coaching staff, players) with GMS as the guide. Thank you Carl for creating a wonderful organization. Hope to see you at one of the clinics."

"My 16 girls team just came in second in the 16 Club tournament at the Lone Star qualifier (out of 160 teams) and qualified for Nationals. We never won a warm-up the entire tournament, but once the game started our serving, passing and defense were too much for almost everyone. I have no doubt that the middle-middle defense has been a big reason for our success. Thanks again - this has been a dream season."

"I wanted to take a moment and thank you for the outstanding education you provided in a fun, gracious and supportive way.
I haven’t played in 20+ years and have never coached a volleyball team, yet I had the Portola High School varsity girls fall into my lap when the varsity coach quit one week before the season began. Thank goodness I attended the clinic—it was the ONLY way I could have survived the season. My notes and clinic materials lived in my coach’s briefcase, and I referenced them everyday. Without the three days at your clinic, I would not have been able to provide the structure for our girls that they absolutely needed.
You’ll be pleased to hear that our tiny mountain school had some success. We finished as league co-champions, CIF Northern Section finalists, and made it to the first round of the NorCal regionals in Division 5—all with three freshman starters. While it was the girls who got the job done, I could not have held the team together without the lessons I learned in July. I have no illusions about my abilities as a volleyball coach—there are truly miles and miles to go. However, there is no question in my mind that your efforts had a significant, positive effect on 12 young women in Portola, California."
