Suzie Pignetti, head coach of Charlotte Latin Women's Volleyball team recently won the State Championship in North Carolina. Suzie has been involved with Gold Medal Squared for several years now, so we'd like to say thanks and congratulations to her and her team for not only winning the state championship, but also for allowing us to come to North Carolina every summer and work with the team. If you look at Suzie's record over the past 3 years, you can clearly see that she has done a wonderful job teaching and training her athletes the correct principles.

2002: 21-9
2003: 24-3
2004: 26-1 (State Champions)

This past summer I had Gold Medal Squared come to our school and it had a huge impact on me as a coach as well as the entire volleyball program. The coaches were very well prepared and they maximized the amount of court time each girl received. Gold Medal Squared broke down each skill into basics and then explained them on a level all the players could understand. What I appreciated the most is that they taught us a system, an overall approach to the game that helped me become a better practice coach, the girls better practice players and made us all better performers during our matches. Learning a system was very important to us due to our lack of size. Our starting outside hitters were 5'4" and 5'6" and our setter was only 5'5". The tallest player on the team was 5'9" but the girls gained the needed confidence by implementing the principles taught during camp. Along our run to state we beat the 5th, 7th and 10th ranked teams in the state and placed 6th at the Washington State 3A Championships despite being the shortest team in the tournament. The best decision I have ever made as a coach is to have GM2 come and do a camp. We were so impressed that we intend to have them return every summer.

"GM2 helped not only myself, as a coach, but my players as well. Gold Medal Squared taught them a winning system and approach to the game of volleyball. The program forced them, as individuals and as a team, to perform at a higher level on the court. Not only do my players know the Gold Medal Squared system and apply it on the court, but they believe in it and have utilized it so well that they take it upon themselves to teach even younger players the keys and concepts to it. In 2003, my girls finished 5th in the Wells Fargo Region out of 6 teams. This season my girls finished 3rd in the region with a birth into the State Tournament. I placed 4 girls on the All-Region team and 3 on All-Tournament teams throughout the season. This system truly has Pinnacle Volleyball on it's way to great achievements."

Megan Jacobson, Pinnacle High School - Phoenix, AZ

"I found the Gold Medal Squared group on the internet and immediately recognized the names from when I played in the late 60's and early 70's. I now had started coaching volleyball and was looking to strengthen my coaching skills. I attended a coaches clinic and immediately knew that I wanted my team to experience first hand the Gold Medal Squared volleyball techniques. My team won the state title after I went to the clinic and repeated this year after my team members hosted a camp. If you want your athletes to improve by leaps and bounds have a team camp. We are planning to have another one this year as players say it is the best they have ever been to."

Kelvin Hasch - Maine State Champs '03,'04

"Here it is! It was a really incredible season. We were swept in the first match of the season, which was great! From the beginning, our mantra was to get better every day (sound familiar?), and to put ourselves in a position to compete for the state title. Throughout the season, we played well, beating a lot of the better teams in our state. We challenged ourselves with the two invitiational tourneys in which we played, going up against a lot of teams from the classification above us.

What is came down to was the coaches being clear about and willing to stick to the standards our players needed to be at in order to get playing time. By the end of the season, we were playing 11 out of our 12 roster players in every game. We had players that bought into the system, and were willing to contribute any way they could. But, they all earned it.

The girls wanted to improve every day, and showed the way for the younger kids. We thought we could be one of the best teams in the state if we played to our potential. We talked a lot about competing, rather than winning. We felt that if we could compete during every match, we had a chance to win. If somebody beat us, that's one thing, but we didn't want to go out not playing well.

It was really exciting, and a great run. I'm ready to do it all over again! Hope to see you soon."
